John Tiratsuyan majored in architecture in college and planned to be an architect as soon as he graduated. His wife, Lucy, was an expert seamstress and planned to be a New York fashion designer but fate had other plans for John and Lucy.

John's family had been in the dry cleaning business for over 35 years. About 20 years ago, John & Lucy came into the business temporarily to help out John's ailing father. They did more than help, they actually began to turn the entire business around. When John's father's condition worsened, his family begged John & Lucy to step in permanently to save the family business. With no one to run it properly it would need to be shut down after 15 years in the business. After serious consideration, both John & Lucy decided to make a major career change and run and build the family business. Their customers have benefited from this decision the most, as Bryn Mawr Dry Cleaners has now been one of the most respected and popular cleaners in the area for the past 20 years.
